Cattle Project to help URF become sustainable

“URF is investing in income-generating projects to ensure there is a stream of local revenue to facilitate services we provide to the community.” staff

In the past five years, URF has designed projects for outreach in the community but most of them are merely service projects which need on-going funding. To be able to continue providing these greatly needed services, we have to craft a strategy to sustain them lest we fall into the trap of perpertuating a cycle of dependence on foreign aid.

As a result, URF is investing in income-generating projects to ensure there is a stream of local revenue to facilitate services we provide to the community. One of such projects is the cattle project recently launched. We have started with three cows. The sale of milk will raise small funds to facility projects. Some of the milk is also consumed by the kids at the Nazareth Children’s Home to improve their nutrition.

Many thanks to our donors who contributed to this great project. If anyone wishes to sponsor purchase of a cow, you can make a contribution of any amount between $600 and $1000 which can buy a pregnant cow of a good breed. Email us for details: jmlugemwa@ugandaruralfund.org
