Cultural Exchange Day – An effort to promote intercultural awareness among students and volunteers

In an effort to educate Hope Academy students about our (international volunteers) home countries, a cultural presentation day was organised.  Topics included history, geography, politics, agriculture, lifestyle, food, sport, and our home and families.

Australia and Canada were the countries presented, and not to be left out, a handful of Hope students also presented on Uganda – which was very informative for us volunteers!  9 Hope students were given a topic each, then asked to research in the library or use their own knowledge to prepare their section.  Then the students put their computer skills to work by preparing a Powerpoint presentation.  On the day of the presentation, each student presented their own section to the rest of the school, giving them a chance to practice their public speaking skills.  It was a very informative and rewarding day for all involved!
