Rainwater harvesting system for Bugonzi primary school installed by EWB

Water is a big crisis in most rural communities in Uganda. When speaking with students, they highlight the shortage of water and walking long distances to access shallow wells as one of the major problems they face.

URF in a partnership with EWB at University of Minnesota seeks to alleviate this water problem. This summer of 2012, a group of engineering students spent three weeks building two big rain water tanks at the Bugonzi Primary School. The school is located in one of the villages that URF serves.

The two tanks store water collected from several buildings at the school. The water is intended for the use of the school children and also for the people of Bugonzi and surrounding villages.

Many to the EWB team and all who have supported this project.
