URF Staff training: Beginnings of the Leadership Institute

On Sat and Sunday, Feb 26-27, 2011 the URF staff in Kyetume received a two-day training on leadership, project management, and challenges of rural community projects. The workshop involved a number of exercises to help thestaff pick up key skills which we hope will help them becomemore effective at what they do.

We are in a process of developing a full scale leadership development and management curriculum that will evolve into a Leadership Institute. Workshops like this staff training will be extended to other NGO staff, local leaders, students, women’s groups, youths, and anyone interested in leadership. At URF, we believe that there can not be true sustainable development for our communities unless the locals have been empowered to charge of these development projects.
