Community Outreach
To better understand the real needs of the community we serve, URF has opened up a dialogue to let the voices of the people to be heard. Our staff and volunteers make home visits to the children and women we serve to better understand how to support them.
Community Empowerment Seminars
URF regularly organizes conferences to facilitate ongoing education for community members. Community-wide conferences are organized once a year. Every weekend small workshops are conducted in various village zones. These workshops are intended to facilitate a dialogue about critical issues faced by members of the community. Workshops include topics such as domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, parenting skills, nutrition, water and sanitation, and more.
Family Outreach and Home Construction Projects
URF identifies families that are struggling, including the elderly and widows caring for orphans, and finds help for them. URF also builds houses for some families, including some for child-headed families in the area. Each home includes a house, a latrine, a kitchen, household furnishings, a small rainwater catchment, and a solar system to provide electric lights.
Food Relief
URF provides food relief to families in need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, URF has distributed food packages containing posho, beans, rice, cooking oil, soap, kerosene, and salt, to families in Masaka villages and in Kampala. Funding has been made available through Love Without Boundaries and the generosity of online donors.
